Kushta Raja Gala
A unique rock carving of a solitary figure of artistic value can be seen at weligama. Popularly called the Kushtarajagala,it depicts the Bodhisatva Avalokiteshvara. This is considered to be the site of an ancient Avalokitesshvara-Natha temple,the bulding having either been destroyed by alien invaders or collapsed due to natural causes,leaving behind the statue.Folklore refers to a king who had been suffering from a skin ailment building the statue and the temple in fulfilment of a now.
