Seema Malaka Temple
One of the most beautiful and tranquil attractions in Colombo, the Seema Malaka Temple stands on three linked man-made island platforms on Beira Lake accessible via a bridge-like walkway.
Although designed with overhanging blue tiled roofs in the Kandyan style by famed Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa, it was actually inspired by the ancient forest monasteries to be found further north in the Cultural Triangle cities of Anuradhapura and Ritigala.
It is universally hailed as one of the best and most scenic temples in Colombo. Water, the sky, and the ineffable calm to be found under its Bo tree, combine to create an unforgettable cultural experience.
