Sembuwaththa Lake
Sembuwaththa Lake is a charmingly picturesque although lesser-know attraction on a mountain plateau belonging to a local tea plantation, 14 kilometers from Matale town.
Surrounded by tea fields, the lake provides amazing views of the rolling hill country, while summer huts and a swimming pool fed by mountain streams provide an idyllic place to rest and recuperate.
According to local villagers, the British colonial rulers built a golf course on the site. If true, you would be hard pressed to find a more spectacular water hazard!
