If you prefer cycling but aren't so keen on struggling with uphill climbs, there are many interesting trails in the lowlands of Sri Lanka that take you through a beautiful landscape of tea, rubber and spice plantations or even the ancient capital of POLONNARUWA .
Our holidays are adventure and nature based where you see real Sri Lanka that is not experienced by everyday tourists. We try as much as possible to keep away from the more popular places visited by every day tourists. We want you to visit a place where you see Sri Lankans and Sri Lanka
The Sigiriya rock fortress, a spectacular and once-impregnable edifice built atop a massive 660ft (200m) granite column, dominates the surrounding plain. The topmost fortress, accessible after a lengthy climb that ends in a vertiginous metal spiral staircase, is literally the highpoint of
The museum in Sigiriya is known to be the most attractive in South Asia. Managed by the Central Cultural Fund the Sigiriya Museum represents its cultural, technological and archaeological value. Three decades of archaeological research on Sigiriya Sri Lanka, a UNESCO world heritage site, can be explored at the Sigiriya Museum. The design of the museum was inspired by the sophisticated design of Sigiriya itself. It followed the concept of Green Building with the mastery use of water and the use of trees so that it stimulates a true experience. Furthermore, the floors are built so that visitors can feel the Sigiriya climb through the ascending terraces and the wide stairways.
A mile North of the Sigiriya Citadel is Pidurangala which served as the royal monastery. A despoiled dagaba at the foot of the hill could well have been the cremation site of King Kasyapa who founded the Citadel. Carbon datings at the site coincide with the traditional date of the demise of the King. Above the modern temple are the old image houses. A flight of steps leads to the summit, where a long cave has a large recumbent image of the Buddha in brick and stucco. It has been dated to the late Anuradhapura period around the 10th century.
